Honouring Spiritual Leaders

Honouring Spiritual Leaders

Saturday, October 25th
Apostle Geoffrey Okeny

Hebrews 13:17 (KJV) “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”

In the Kingdom of God, leadership is not a system of control, it is a channel of blessing. Your spiritual leader is not against you; they are for your advantage. They are the ones God has appointed to watch over your soul, nurture your faith, speak God’s Word into your life, and steer you into your destiny.

God has placed spiritual authority over your life for your defense, protection, and training. Every leader above you — from your pastor to the heads of departments, carries s certain grace designed for your increase. The grace you honor is the grace that works for you. Learn from your leader. Value their words. Embrace correction. Build relationships with them. Honor is not a seasonal act — it is a posture of the heart.

Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth, urging them to remember and honor him by continuing in the teachings he had given them (1 Corinthians 11:1–2). This shows us that honor is expressed not only through words but also through remembrance and obedience to instruction.

Every teaching, correction, and exhortation you receive from your leaders is meant to shape your life, guard your soul, and to position you for greater things in God. A true spiritual leader prays for you, corrects you, guides you, and sometimes delivers hard truths for your growth. That labor is spiritual work — work that shapes your destiny.

Therefore, choose to honor your spiritual leaders, and the grace of God upon their lives will work abundantly in your life. Remember, God trains you through leadership, preparing you for responsibility, influence, and the fullness of His will. Hallelujah!!
