Mark 16:17 (KJV) “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues.”
Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift from God to every believer who has received the Holy Spirit. It is not a sign of spiritual superiority, but a divine means of fellowship and empowerment. When you speak in tongues, your spirit is communicating directly with God, beyond the limits of your understanding.
Many Christians underestimate this precious gift because they do not fully understand its power. Speaking in tongues connects you to the supernatural realm and opens you up to divine secrets. The Holy Spirit gives you utterance to pray beyond what your mind can express, you begin to speak mysteries, words that align perfectly with God’s will.
When you pray in tongues, you build yourself up spiritually. You are strengthened, refreshed, and refilled with divine energy. The Bible says, “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself” (1 Corinthians 14:4). The word “edify” means to build, fortify, or make strong. No wonder Paul said, “I thank my God I speak with tongues more than ye all” (1 Corinthians 14:18). He understood that this practice keeps a believer continually charged with power.
Tongues are the heavenly language of the Kingdom. Just as every nation has its own language, the Kingdom of God also has a divine language, the language of the Spirit. When you are born again, you are translated from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son (Colossians 1:13). As a citizen of this Kingdom, you are at a greater advantage when you speak in tongues.
Speaking in tongues is a gift of the Spirit, it cannot be taught or imitated. Simply yield yourself to the Holy Spirit, open your mouth in faith, and He will give you utterance. As you speak in tongues, your spiritual sensitivity will be sharpened. You begin to see, hear, and understand divine things more clearly. Your spiritual eyes and ears will be opened to perceive God’s direction and wisdom. Hallelujah!!
PRAYER
“Father, I thank you for the gift of speaking in tongues. I yield myself to the Holy Spirit, who has given me the ability to speak the heavenly language . As I pray in the Spirit, I build myself up, receive divine strength, and sharpen my spiritual sensitivity. I walk in the power and reality of this gift, speaking mysteries and aligning myself with Your will. Thank you for the language of the Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
