The Goodness of the Lord

The Goodness of the Lord

Monday, October 20th
Apostle Geoffrey Okeny

Psalm 34:8 (KJV)“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

The goodness of God is not an act, it is His nature. Everything God does flows from who He is, not from what we do. His goodness is not a response to our perfection; it is a revelation of His character. When we understand that God is good, always good, consistently good, eternally good, our relationship with Him changes. We stop running from Him and start running to Him.

Many people run from God when they make mistakes because they think He is angry or ready to punish them. But Scripture tells us in Romans 2:4 that His goodness leadeth us to repentance, not His wrath. The man who knows that God is good doesn’t hide in guilt, he runs to God in faith.

God is not good because we pray, fast, or give. He is good because it’s who He is. He is good when you’re faithful and good when you fail. He is good when you have much and when you have little. His goodness doesn’t increase with your holiness or decrease with your weakness.
.
We see God express His goodness by sending Jesus Christ to die for our sins, rise again for our justification, and offer us eternal life. But this goodness demands a response: believe and receive. When you respond to His goodness with faith, you enter into an eternal relationship with Him, and that’s when you begin to experience His goodness daily. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

“Father, I thank you for Your goodness that leads me to repentance.I believe that Your goodness is not based on my actions, but on Your nature. I receive Your goodness with faith, and I trust in Your character. I declare that your goodness overflow in my life, guiding me to walk in faith and obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
