Apostle Geoffrey Okeny
Proverbs 3:9–10 (KJV) “Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”
The first fruit offering is a principle of honor, acknowledging God as the source of your provision. It is the practice of giving God the first portion and the best of your increase;whether in harvest, income, or blessing, as a way of saying, “Lord, You are my Provider” This offering is not about the size, but it’s about the posture of the heart giving.
In Scripture, the first always belongs to God. The firstborn of Israel, the first harvest in the land, and even the first victory in battle were consecrated to Him, Exodus 22:29 Thou shalt not delay [to offer] the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me. The reason is simple: what is offered first sanctifies the rest. By giving God the first, you invite His blessing to rest on all that follows. The first fruit is therefore a spiritual key to divine preservation and multiplication.
Those who practiced this principle, like Abel, Abraham, and the early believers, experienced God’s supernatural favor. When you set God first, you are making a declaration of dependence on Him. This act of faith releases grace, abundance, and stability in your finances and household. As Ezekiel 44:30 (KJV) assures us, the blessing of God rests on the house of those who honor Him with their first fruit.
The first fruit offering is not just a ritual; it is a spiritual law that acknowledges God as the source of every blessing. By presenting the first and the best, we consecrate the rest of our increase to Him. Therefore, purpose in your heart to practice this principle in your life, family, business, and in all of your increase, and you will experience the blessing in our opening verse: “So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” Amen.
PRAYER
Father, thank You for teaching me the principle of the first fruit offering. I choose to honor You with the first and the best ,And as I honor you with my first fruit ,my barns are filled with plenty, and my presses burst out with new wine. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
