Proverbs 12:24 (NKJV) The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

A person who lacks consistency cannot be considered diligent. This principle is exemplified by Jacob’s projection of his son Reuben’s future, as described in Genesis 49:4 (NKJV): “Unstable as water, you shall not excel.”
The Greek word for diligent is Spoudaioteteros , which signifies being prompt and quick to respond with a sense of urgency. A diligent person is not late to church, work, or school.
