“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:12 KJV
Faith is a spiritual force at work in the believer’s spirit. Faith works with and by other fruits of the Spirit outlined in Galatians 5:22. Love is one of them, faith works by love (Galatians 5:6 KJV). Faith without love is nothing, empty and meaningless. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love”
In our opening verse, we see an instruction from Apostle Paul to the saints, to be followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Patience was required in the operation of their faith. He told them not to become lazy through waiting. Take the example of Abraham, the Lord gave the word about his seed or offspring at 75 years ( Genesis 12:7 KJV) and it took 25 years for Isaac to be born (Genesis 21:2-3 KJV).
The Lord Holy Spirit is telling us to follow examples of men of faith like father Abraham, when you have evidence, the title deed and proof of your faith in your spirit, then persevere. Don’t become lazy and give up. Look at a woman who has conceived, she knows she has a baby inside of her womb and through patience she brings this child to maturity. What God’s word told you is true but you require patience to birth forth your faith baby.
That patience also means constancy, longanimity, forbearance or perseverance. How do you know that you are in the faith-wait? When these conditions mentioned in Hebrews 11:13 KJV are in place; “…but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed ….”
By the eyes of faith, you must have seen afar off (have clear and undoubted vision of your answer or solution), you must be persuaded of them, you must have embraced them and you must be confessing them (talking them). This is the faith-wait, that our opening verse says through faith and patience.
CONFESSION
I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, my faith is producing results everyday through patience. I refuse to give up and give in to the pressure of life. The word of God is full in my heart and I boldly speak it over every situation. Definite change is taking place in my life, glory.
