Knowing the voice of God

Knowing the voice of God

John 10:27 (KJV) My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

One of the greatest privileges of being born again is the ability to hear the voice of God. God did not design man to live by guesswork or confusion. From the beginning, God walked and talked with Adam in the cool of the day; there was no fear, no distance, and no confusion. That was His original plan for man: a relationship built on communion, not religion.

Religion has made many believe that God is far away, unreachable, or only speaks to a few special people. That’s why some feel the need to pray through saints or rely on others to hear from God for them. But the truth is, as long as you are born again, you can hear the voice of God.

However, you don’t learn to know God’s voice in a day. Just like a child learns the voice of a parent through daily fellowship, you learn God’s voice by constant exposure to His Word and His presence.

The more you listen to God’s Word, the more familiar His voice becomes to you. Soon, even in a whisper, you will recognize that it is Him. This is why it is vital to stay in a Word-filled church and atmosphere. Dreams and emotions can mislead, but the Word of God is the standard of His voice.

The most frustrated, depressed, and confused Christian is the one who cannot hear God. The most peaceful, directed, and fruitful believer is the one who has learned to listen. You are not poor because you lack money; you remain poor as long as you are not able to hear what God is saying concerning your finances. One word from Him can open a door, give direction, or bring provision.Hearing God’s voice turns confusion into clarity, delay into direction, and struggle into grace. Glory to God!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the ability to hear and recognise your voice. As you speak to me from the Word and counsel me from within, I respond to your guidance, promptings, and instructions, and receive the corresponding blessings, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
