Apostle Geoffrey Okeny
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”John 10:10 (KJV)
God never designed life to be endured with sadness, but to be enjoyed with joy and thanksgiving. Every moment—whether studying, eating, praying, or working—can be filled with the presence of God when we make the choice to rejoice. Scripture teaches that “a merry heart doeth good like a medicine”(Proverbs 17:22), meaning joy carries healing and refreshing power.
Enjoyment is a decision. Many wait for favorable circumstances before they are happy, but Jesus instructs us to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world. Sadness drains strength and dries the bones, but joy fuels our spirit, stirs faith, and provokes the supernatural. Even in moments of challenge, we can rejoice knowing the Lord is with us.
Discipleship and fruitfulness also thrive in an atmosphere of joy. Abraham raised 318 trained men in his house intentionally and with vision (Genesis 14:14). In the same way, we must intentionally influence others for Christ, reproducing the life of God in them. This can only flow out of a heart that is full of joy and enjoys the abundant life Jesus gives.
When we learn to enjoy God’s Word, prayer, service, and fellowship, we inspire others around us. Joy is contagious—our attitude can either strengthen or weaken the faith of others. A gloomy Christian misrepresents Christ, but a joyful believer communicates the reality of abundant life.
Therefore, make a deliberate choice to rejoice in every situation. Celebrate the small things, be grateful for what you have, and use every opportunity to radiate the joy of the Lord. This is the secret to health, strength, influence, and fruitfulness in Christ.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me abundant life in Christ. I choose to enjoy every moment You’ve given me, rejoicing in Your presence and walking in joy daily. My life is fruitful, inspiring, and contagious with the joy of the Holy Ghost. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
