Mark 6:3–5 (KJV) Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
Until you recognise the anointing upon your spiritual leader, you will make very little progress in your life. The children of Israel delayed in the wilderness because they did not acknowledge the anointing upon Moses. The scripture tells us in Hosea 12:13 (KJV): “And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.”
You can only ascend to greater heights in the realm of the Spirit if you learn to recognise the anointing upon your spiritual leaders. The people who stay so close to their spiritual leaders often fall into the trap of familiarity because they get to know them in detail. However, you must understand that they are not ordinary people, and if you are familiar with them, you will not be a beneficiary of the anointing upon their lives.
Jesus was not able to perform many miracles in Nazareth because of familiarity. Mark 6:5 (KJV): “And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.” The anointing flows where it is honoured and celebrated. If you are not making progress as a born-again Christian, the problem is not with the spiritual leader. You must evaluate yourself and check how you relate to the anointing, because the same anointing that may not be working for you is prospering your fellow brethren in the church.
For example, one of Jesus' disciples, Judas Iscariot, failed to recognise the value of honoring the anointing. When the woman poured expensive perfume on Jesus, Judas criticised it as wasteful, but Jesus saw it as a beautiful act according to (Mark 14:3-9). Similarly, when we recognise and honour the anointing on our leaders, we acknowledge God's work in their lives. Therefore, you should know that when God wants to promote a man, He will send him a man of God. Your responsibility is to recognise and honour the anointing upon his or her life, and your progress will be evident to all. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
"Dear Lord, I recognize and honor the anointing upon my spiritual leaders. I submit to their guidance and authority, knowing that they watch over my soul. Help me to respect and obey them, that I may benefit from the anointing upon their lives. In Jesus' name, Amen."
DEEPER REFLECTION
Jeremiah 3:15 (KJV) And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Hebrews 13:17 (KJV) Obey them that have rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
