The understanding of Evangelism

The understanding of Evangelism
Soul Winning involves;

1. The process of conversion- Turning unbelievers into believers and followers of Jesus Christ. (Evangelism)- Mark 16:15-18

2. Developing the new converts to become active disciples of Jesus Christ and his representative to the world of sinners (Discipleship)- Matthew 28:18-20

Evangelism is the art of preaching the gospel of salvation to sinners (Either an individual or group of people). The word “preach” can also mean to announce, tell, proclaim, or declare a message to an individual or group of people.

The objective of evangelism is to help men believe in the Lord Jesus Christ by confessing his Lordship and that he is alive today. “ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved- Romans 10:9

JOIN THE CHARIOT

1. The chariot is the vehicle of life that provides you with the avenue of expression physically, mentally, or in any other way.
2. It brings you into contact with other people and to some extent defines your scope of contact. So there are business and professional vehicles. If you work in the bank, the bank is your vehicle (Chariot). If you are a student, your school (University) is your Chariot as long as you are a student.
3. The preaching of the gospel has been committed unto our trust. Paul said, And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry- 1 Timothy 1:12
4. Don’t get too busy and you miss out on recognizing the treasure that is in the chariot. The souls of men are treasures to the Lord, and the Lord wants you to be able to identify a need for salvation and meet that need by sharing the gospel with the people in your chariot.

BE A WISE SOUL WINNER NOT A TALKER (Prov 11:30)

1. The Bible declares that a soul winner is wise, meaning that you should be a strategist.
2. To win souls, you must Pray, Plan, and Device strategies. A soul winner is a strategist (A person who is skilled in identifying a soul, devising plans for execution, and taking actionable steps to ensure the gospel reaches the person

Simple Steps for a skilled soul winner

1. Know your chariot
2. Identify the treasure(souls) in your vehicle of life.
3. Plan (What, When, Where, and How) and device strategies
4. Pray about the plan and the souls that you have targeted.
5. Execute the plan
Strategies for effective soul-winning

1. Approach politely. This is a key strategy. Begin by greeting the targeted person with a smile and stand a meter away from the person. Introduce yourselves and ask for 5 minutes of his/her time.

2. Be Prayerful and be tactful: Prayer of intercession is important for effective soul-winning. You need the Holy Ghost to move the person into giving you his/her attention and to ask you relevant questions. Also, be tactful. For example, sometimes it is difficult to preach to a group of friends at the same time. You will need to target one who seems influential and start with him/her, and that will lead to others. The Lord targeted Paul, and the church had rest from persecution.

DISCIPLESHIP

Discipleship is a relationship where we intentionally walk alongside a disciple or a growing disciple to encourage, correct, and challenge them in love to grow toward maturity in Christ.

Jesus Style of Discipleship-
1. Mark 3:14 (Internalization) focuses on the few (Luke 6:13) to reach the masses.
2. Jesus built his ministry on a select few who would form the superstructure of his future kingdom.
3. Disciples cannot be mass-produced but are the product of intimate and personal investment.
4. Jesus’s concern was not with programs to reach the multitudes but with men the multitudes would follow.
5. Paul’s discipleship mission is to present every man as perfect in Christ Jesus. Colossians 1:28-29
6. Paul compares his passion for making disciples to the agony a woman goes through while giving birth. Galatians 4:19.
7. Paul envisioned an intergenerational chain of disciples linked together through personal investment. 2 Timothy 2:2
8. Contained in the above verse are generations in the disciplining network, creating the following path: Paul ➞ Timothy ➞ reliable people ➞ teach others.
9. We pass on Christlikeness through intimate modeling. Paul said, “I urge you to imitate me” (1 Corinthians 4:16) and “You became imitators of us and of the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 1:6).
