3 Things That Destroy Mercy
- Focusing on lying vanities. “Those who regard worthless idols forsake their own Mercy…” (Jonah 2:8). You should not be more aware of what is happening in your life; focus on the right things that are happening. Focus on the mercy; the mercy does not expire; it’s new every morning.
- Focusing on sacrifices. “For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings…” (Hosea 6:6, Matthew 12:7). It’s the mercy that defends you; it’s the mercy of God at work in you.
- Ignorance of God’s Word. “…the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits…” (James 3:16-17). A man who is ignorant of God’s Word will not experience mercy.
5 ways to receive more Mercy
- You receive mercy directly from the Lord. “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need…” (Hebrews 4:16). You ought to lambano mercy.
- Through increased wisdom. The more wisdom, the more mercy (James 3:17).
- You receive more mercy by giving mercy. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy…” (Matthew 5:7).
- Refuse to observe lying vanities. “Those who observe lying vanities forsake their own Mercy…” (Jonah 2:8).
- By impartation. “Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you…” (Jude 2, 2 John 1:3, Titus 1:4).
